nooknerdz says:

Gotta get me one of those!!! Love it!

adam maxey says:

Can you post a link to where to get the lead? Also youtube subtitles changes your last name to potato thought that was funny.

Michael Chase says:

I like your videos, but $180 jig so I can make my own pencils ✏️ 😂🤪

Deez Nuts says:

This Jig looks amazing but for someone to pay that much money just to make pencils would be ridiculous

rod potts says:

Man I just love watching your channel ! Very cool!

ragincanadiangmail says:

*Segmented Pencils… just sayin.

Mike Wrobel says:

I am looking at the feasibility of having fun too. Where the heck to find graphite and color 'lead' that is wooden pencil size (not mechanical pencil size?

David Baum says:

Wouldn't it be faster to glue them and then cut them? Also wouldn't they turn out more uniform? You could make a 2 wood pencil. Light wood for half and a dark wood for the other half.

Anon says:

Artisanal colored pencils. A perfect episode of Portlandia.

Modern Builds says:

colored pencils with clear epoxy so you can see through to the lead in the middle 🤩

Michael Kerwin says:

Thank you for sharing

Made by Brent says:

That is so cool!

seanchips says:

Would love to get one but $120 shipping to France is way too much! I've ordered a lot of stuff from the US it's never been so expensive even for large or heavy objects… Maybe they could be a cheaper option? (Slow USPS vs FedEx for instance).

Be Inspired with Dominic says:

That is a cool jig. I wonder whether there is as big a market for shopmade pencils as there is for pens, but I can think of a number of weird things to make with this already. Any ideas regarding shipping to Germany? Thanks for sharing, David!

oojagapivy says:

Having just scrolled through the comments I'm still astounded that people say 'waste of time – can buy 30 for cheaper – focus on product not process – faster way to do this – why would you – takes too long – blah blah blah". If this were truly the case, "makers" wouldn't be a thing and I may as well go in to my next Yr7 or 8 shop class and say " okay kids, we were going to make "this" but I found a cheaper version of it in the dollar store, so just go buy it instead". How on earth are we supposed to foster a love of investigating and designing solutions and making for the love of it and owning something that "you" made, if the world is full of negative "why bother" numbnuts.
No-one else will have the same pencils as you David, not even me if I did this. Keep having fun and go Make Something people.

David Beckwith says:

Brings a whole new meaning to "I, Pencil."

Richard Martin says:

Why would you make your own pencils? Because it’s cool to make your own stuff. And because it’s fun. Nice video David, that jig is very clever.

thomas pryor says:

Those are really fun pencils. what price would you ask if you were selling those? Whats a handcrafted pencil cost? I'm not in the market but I would like to know.

Andrew Holdaway says:

But why would you want to make your own pencils?

Tom Kendall says:

really cool. didn't realize this was even available.

Richard Meyer says:

Looks like someone else has a similar idea for chopsticks: http://www.leevalley.com/us/wood/page.aspx?p=77250&cat=1,77205
and only $286 for the jig…a steal!

Raul RVG says:

Acabo de comprar el libro bandsaw box, me gusta bastante pero hay un problemilla, ciertas cosas no las entiendo bien…
Para cuando un libro en español? No estaría nada mal…
Un saludo desde España.

Greg Herb says:

What size pencil lead is this? As an artist/artisan I'm curious what I'd be getting!
