4K Home Security Camera Review – Lorex System

4K Home Security Camera Review – Lorex System

My first look at the Lorex 4K HD NVR Home Security Camera system. The cameras I have are all the POE (power over ethernet) 4K cameras with night vision. They send the video feed and get power all through the ethernet cable alone.
With these systems you are not stuck with all the same camera, you can buy and mix any Lorex Ethernet camera with your system. I would like to try the color night vision and the PTZ (pan tilt zoom) cameras. As well as a camera that supports audio. When I buy them I will make a video on those as well so check out my other videos.

You can also check these out at Costco retail stores (but Costco only has one model on display) or amazon: https://amzn.to/2Q7boJN

Hi, Lorex's website said the system comes with 2 Days storage. Do you know if it is referring to 2 Days storage of continuous recording, similar to Arlo's system?

Adam, That's a cool system. Love that it's 4K. I've just done a review video on the Reolink GO 4G camera. Only 1080p though. What do you think of 4G cameras?

I think I saw a similar system at Costco. I've been assembling a Blue Iris system (pc based) and wonder about the pros and cons.

A word to the wise, if you are planning on buying the 8 camera 4K system from Lorex.  You need to know that the NVR will not keep up with even 5 cameras it's way short on processing power.  For running 6-10 cameras you will need to buy a 16 camera NVR.  I also added a 10TB hard drive to my NVR for all the data the cameras provide.  If you need a zoom camera the best I could find for 4K was the LNB 8973-C from Lorex.  It has a true 4X optical zoom and much higher quality optics than the stock 4K cameras in the kit.  I bought both of mine on eBay for $250.00 each and worth every cent.

Josh Mann says:

The video has a bit of a lag. I found this out with revo America 4K system that I got last year during Christmas for a good price but the lag was very annoying!!!!! Even the mailwoman was frozen shot when she was walking in front of the house. These POE cameras are like having wireless cameras. Wireless cameras have an even more worse lag. I need to have on the spot feed a half or one second lag can make a difference when you need instant feed
