So since I just recently moved back home to save for a house, I thought that I would show how I decorated my first apartment fresh out of college. I learned how to ball on a budget while still getting most of everything I wanted in my first apartment
Special thanks to my good friend Buc who helped me with so much in my apartment!!

Hammer
Old Comforter
Batting or foam sheets
I used these because overall it was cheaper and did the same thing as batting. But they are no longer available https://www.walmart.com/ip/19397511
I HIGHLY recommend having help when creating this headboard
The person who helped me had all tools and nails (so I didn’t include that in the price I said in the video)
Instructions
MAKE SURE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET THE HEADBOARD IN YOUR BEDROOM BEFORE YOU START CREATING THIS PROJECT
To get the proper height and width of your headboard, you will need 2 pieces of plywood
Attach the two pieces of plywood together with a 2×4 board by using the staple gun.
Also, to ensure the boards won’t move, nail the 2 pieces of plywood to the 2×4 as well
***My bed is a queen sized bed. The dimensions of a queen sized bed in 60inchesx80 inches, with 60 inches being the width. I wanted my headboard to be a tad bit larger so I made mine to have 2 inches extra on each side. Therefore, the width of my headboard was 64 inches.
***To maximize the dramatic effect of the headboard, measure the height of your room. My headboard was pretty tall. I only left about 4-6 inches between the headboard and my ceiling. ***
Completely cover the headboard with foam sheets (or batting if you use this).
I also covered the headboard with an old comforter to add to the “plushiness” of my headboard.
Pull the old comforter tight around the headboard and staple behind the plywood using your staple gun
Cover the old comforter using your blanket or fabric of choice. This will be the material of your headboard
Pull tightly to eliminate wrinkles and staple excess behind the headboard. Make sure to tuck the corners neatly before stapling to back of headboard
Trim your headboard with nailhead trim (it’s SO much easier than using nailheads one by one). I recommend purchasing extra nail heads in case you run out. I personally ran out with the amount that came with the trim package because I kept bending them
That’s it!
**I didn’t attach my headboard to the bed I just leaned it on the wall and had no problems. Everyone LOVED my headboard.
ENJOY YOUR NEW HEADBOARD!
