Front Yard Landscaping Project on a Budget

Front Yard Landscaping Project on a Budget

I recently redesigned my front yard landscape. I did not go into the project with a set budget in mind but I was able to finish the project for around $300. Now that price could easily go up if you were to install a border or larger plants. I purposely chose discounted plants such as the knockout roses I got for $3 each. I also chose 1 gallon plants in some cases instead of the more expensive 3 gallon options. Overall, I was happy with how the project turned out. I just want to finish it with some seasonal color.

It looks really nice 🙂

That arborvitae will take forever to reach the height you're looking for and the roses will swallow it up. If you like the arb look you can switch it out fir a blue point juniper which grows faster and looks similar, or a faster growing holly bush. Just my 2cents🙂

As your looking at the house from the front yard, id suggest rounding out that left side and mating it up what looks like the white corner pole next to the vehicle (around 13:37 in the video). If you use a similar arc to the one your using on the right side of the house, I think it would compliment nicely. Just a thought. Overall, looks good. Another thing that may be helpful is this…as summer comes on, that red mulch will fade out. You can buy red mulch dye and freshen everything up in the summer using the dye in a pump sprayer. I even add in Surflan for Pre em control. ( you may already know all that, but Hope that helps ya out). I am happy to be able to actually provide a tip or two to (maybe) help out because I'm learning so much from you on the spray side!! Looking forward to updates on this. As fast as Bermuda grows, Id also recommend a border. It can be a simple one for now using the metal border that you can drive in with stakes, and then make a stone or paver style border down the road when you want to upgrade. Like J's said below, don't even bother with that plastic border crap. ive tried it and it isn't worth it. Either metal, or just spade it to maintain your edges until you get a more significant rock or paver border in later.

That does indeed look great Jason, proud of you buddy! God bless you for messing with that landscape fabric, I hate that stuff, never have had good luck with it!

Ryan Thomas says:

Looks good, I would definitely put a defined edge around the beds. Thank you for all the information!

Frank C says:

Don't paint the brick. Just pressure wash it.

Good start Jason. $300? Better start picking up those coins when you see them. LOL.

Great Again Mowing says:

Love that sprawling yard—seems like such a fantastic place to raise your family!

J's Crazy Cutz, LLC says:

Looks good Jason. In my opinion, I would not put that plastic skirting that people usually use around the bed. I would just spade it and maintain the edge with a trimmer. I would use Preen instead of weed fabric.
