Very good info. Thanks

Something I learned from an old, experienced plumber: Teflon tape is for lubricating rough threads, while pipe dope is for sealing threads. That bit of knowledge has made my plumbing work MUCH better – and easier. (Why do you think pipe dope is used on gas lines, but Teflon tape is NOT PERMITTED?

And don't forget to ream your pipe.

I was thinking and studying about the pin-hole type of holes (like, but different from problem #8) which can come in the copper pipes. When you cut them open to look it looks like when a bb has hit glass–the pin hole has an extremely smooth, very round, very shiny cone through from the inside of the pipe. It's probably the worst news for the owner as well as the fellow who will spend the rest of his career vainly trying to beat these holes. Isn't it an electrolysis (electroplating, but in reverse) and the remedy is the sacrificial anode which is the magnesium probe in the hot water tanks? I've been successful putting brazed or soldered round-cornered surface patches over the holes or switching to PEX. Do you have good information on these?

Have you ever done a video on a proper S trap to P trap replacement?

3:20 and for water installation dont use the black pipe . Like he did use Galvanize

Sean L says:

The improper use of tape always makes me scratch my head ; especially when someone uses the same wrap direction on a close nipple

Jeremiah Cherry-Taylor says:

Very nice video. By the way the term for joining disimiliar metals, (black iron and copper) creates "electrolysis" which contaminates the water inside the hot water tank.

Todd Poolman says:

#5 – never heard of that working….. ever! Lol. Boiling water is a great preventive for clogged pipes.

Here is a tip for tightening pipes: tighten it until the pipe snaps, then back it off half a turn. Double check for leaks.
