I'm in the middle of a plumbing nightmare. I had a new bathtub put in and the plumber didn't line up the tub and drain correctly. We didn't notice anything until my daughter took a bath. When she drained the tub, the bathroom and two bedrooms flooded. I called another plumber who tore out the walls and proceeded to re-align the pipes…leaving a 3/4" gap between the shoe and the tub. He filled the gap with silicone and tried to charge me $887. From the videos I've seen it doesn't seem like all that difficult a job to do…really just a matter of proper measurements. I'm gonna try to do it myself. Wish me luck!

what is the screw on piece that connects the metal drain pipe to the pvc pipe called? and is there a special clue for copper to pvc connections?
typically how much would this cost at somewhere like roto rooter or a.b.may?
Steve, do you have any videos on Standing wastes? I have one that is leaking between the Waste and a galvanized trap because of electrolysis.
What's the name of that fitting you put on the copper pipe ? thanks!
Couldn't you just have only cut the metal pipe and added a 6" extension?
I have a question: was that 2inch copper pipe?
