Life according to Kirk says, material knowledge is 70% of being a well rounded plasterer, takes about 10 to 14 years to be well rounded with extended know how.
The other 30% is application, this take about 10 years on average. I have over 30, so I can do this stuff very effectively as it’s easy with time in.

FYI, although we make applying Stucco, Plaster Render and Veneer plaster systems appear easy, it usually take about 10 to 20 years of hands on experience to understand how to apply Stucco-Plaster-Render properly.

Cheers, another great helpful video Kirk. Quick couple of questions. When doing breakout do you do an uneven edge for the new stucco to adhere to? I used a circular saw to cut a straight edge down to the wire and used a wrecking bar to get the rest of the way. Now I'm concerned the straight edge will cause the new plaster to crack. Should I go back in and break up the edge some. Also, what was the caulk you used and what is it for? Is it absolutely necessary? Thx, Adam

Hey Kirk, found your videos looking up tips on DIY stucco. I have a big spot on my shed i need to stucco. You can see what I got here. http://imgur.com/laRSLvi. The plywood and window I added to the bigger window hole that was there. the 2 questions i have are 1. should i chip away the bordering stucco to reveal the paper and wire underneath like that one guy did? and 2, whats the min temp for doing stucco? Here in eastern NM we're already getting freezing temps at night
Thanks man and cool videos.
