Epoxy Shou Sugi Ban Finish – DIY Projects – Amazing Woodworking

This is a surprisingly easy DIY project, that you might be able to make for free if you have some epoxy left over from an old project. I took some old cedar fence panels, burned them with propane torch, then covered with epoxy. What I got was a pretty cool 3D wood and epoxy coaster unlike any I had seen before. Hope you like it, let me know if you have any questions!

Coke — great effect with the charing and smooth glass epoxy then non-char on the reverse.

Chris Nash says:

I wasn’t digging this at first, but wow! I loved the finished product. I would have NEVER thought burnt would could be used like that. I do pucker when you ran your hands that close to the band saw. I believe Micro-Jig makes fixtures ideal to safely handle wood around the bandsaw.

Hi I have a fender strat guitar body that I think would look amazing like this. Fancy doing it?

Monster energy 🤗 I love it, I'd never thought of using epoxy like that! I've now got something to do during this pandemic thank you! Better go dig out the epoxy and propane this afternoon now

Philip says:

How did you get the bubbles out. Did you just wave a flame over it? Ps Dead Guys tell no tails but I’d still like to know how.

StanCrafted says:

I watched the whole thing…how could I not? That was cool. My favorite beer right now is a Bubble Stash from Hop Valley…changes all the time though…my very first YouTube video was making ball markers for golf from a pair of Rolling Rock bottle caps…so I drink a little bit of that too.
