So beautiful 😭
or, you could use a rabbit plane;)
How to finish the edges of a board that you cut with a saw ?
Becouse they are rough
You could cut the rabbets by hand
Finishing my second box. Gave the first one to my wife. You got me hooked Steve. Thank you. PS Next one I might try miter joints.
love ur videos. u seem like a real nice guy!
I love the way you explain things, you make it easy to understand!
I love your work, this project is next on my list thank you 👍
Steve, thank you for these basics videos. I am an aspiring woodworker thanks to Channels like wood and crafted workshop but those guys are way beyond what I can do at this point in my small two bedroom apartment. I do not have the ability to have a table saw at this point but I make it work with what I have for small projects. Keep the videos coming! If you have any suggestions for us apartment people I would definitely be interested in hearing your ideas.
for a very basic beginner example why show a rabbit joint? a plain ole butt joint is the simplest way to do this.a rabbit is more complicated to figure out your sizes/cutlist and requires more saw passes. if someone is just working with a handsaw or something they will only be able to do a butt joint or perhaps a miter, there is no real point to a rabbit anyway. if you aren't doing full-on dove tail in this scenario you aren't gaining much of anything.just wasting time.a miter corner has more surface area than a rabbit without the confusing (for a beginner) math.
When joining the two boards from the top, invert one from when they were cut and the two cuts half to equal 180 degrees exactly. Of course, the saw should be perfect …
You call them rabbits, the English call them rebates but in my country we call them grayffseythemanzinetnalnkilmedhi joints.
Great explanation.
What was that nifty spray can attachment?
Thanks Steve great video.
I'd buy one in the £1 shop.
I damn love it. Thank you for sharing.
Jesse Pinkman would be proud!
I thought I was the only one who was using 14 clamps on a small box… LUV THIS GUY
"Be Vewy vewy qwiet. I'm sanding Wabbits!"
Thanks for this epic video for the epic gamers that are wanting to do woodshop.
You are so right about that – can you make a box you can make anything. I might copy that line 😉
Well made video and a great channel!
every day the internal struggle between being a cheap bastard and needing to buy a table saw. I need to understand not everything can be achieved with a circular saw.
Thanks Steve, every video I learn something new. 🙂
Btw, since I am at software development I made a simple project costs tracking app. It is as simple as possible and it suit my needs. Find it in google play store by the name "Project Costs". It would be awesome if you give me a feedback. 🙂 Cheers and keep up with good work!
Excellent video Steve! Thanks for sharing!
Now that's the video I like – it gently but surely adds knowledge, subtracts fear and boosts confidence. Love for fellow human beings put into practice. 🙂 I appreciate this. Thanks! 🙂
BTW. Would a project, let's say 45 open-top boxes for stuff, including ordering an already cut-to-size plywood elements fir your channel? I mean making a plan and let the seller cut the plywood for me (I don't have a proper table saw). I'd glue and screw them together. Of course it has it's advantages as well as downsides (cost). I have no experience there so I'd appreciate a hint or two. 🙂 Or pros and cons.
The less time it would consume the better. Other things to do in life, you know. 🙂
Loving the videos. What did you spray them with at the end?
I invite all of those new to woodworking to send this guy a kick in the 'nads for spreading glue with his finger. That is a BAD habit to get in to. Use a brush!!!!!
