The marquee seems really small for a cabinet of that size. It's going to be shrunken head'd out.

Did you pilot drill the nailing strips? maybe thats why it split. Its coming along really well man!
MDF is hard to paint as it really soaks up paint. You can get a spray on high fill primer and a few coats and sand of that should let you start putting down some good paint.
Theres also a roll on PVA primer exists to seal the MDF to allow you to paint it well.

Super nice build so far cant wait until you have it finished. I really like this design I have even already printed mine out from the original guy who did it. Do you have the the pdf files on your control panel design and dimensions. I don't think it would be super hard to get it where it looks good but a rough measurements would give a good starting point. Thanks
