Modifying Mum’s Car [Part 3]

Modifying Mum’s Car [Part 3]

Marty’s Mum’s Subaru blew it’s engine so with the help of Benny, we get a brand new EJ207 short block and some reconditioned heads and make an all new engine ready to smash back into the car.

Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we’ve gone about it, but we can’t promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won’t harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you’re doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you’ve seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Daniel Leonard says:

I had a 95 Subaru Impreza. The thing took a beating and still ran like new. I had it in the shop for an oil leak around the crank shaft seal, and when the tech put it back together he didn’t use lock tight or torque the nut and the nut came loose while running. This caused the crank shaft gear to shift, destroy the crank shaft key, and throw it out of timing. Back to the shop. He put another key in the shaft, lock tight, and torque, but the key whole was so bad, it threw it out of timing again. Now I was stuck with a dilemma. It would have been a rebuilt but we had an idea. A welder friend of mine came and welded the gear onto the shaft. Put it all back together, fire it up. Still ran like new. Love Subaru. Wish I still had the car.
