This Craftsman video is about garage organization ideas: DIY overhead garage storage.
interesting… couple of things to note… you'd better hope they're not too heavy as lifting them up there will be difficult and you'll probably get sick of sliding them all out for the one that's at the back..
What is the total cost of the project for 12 totes complete with the Brute Totes by Rubbermaid you show?
0:55 I like how you just assume their gender.
the next project should be better overhead containers plastic bins sag overtime, in a year those boxes will not fit the rails.good project, looking forward to the next one
Or you could just build shelves
Yea my bins would fall on my head
can you show use how to make a fun box fpr skateboarding
Glue..glue…glue…glue….
This project would be much safer if you threaded the boxes where the handles are. Yes it n theory his way works but once you pile your Christmas crap in their the bottom is going to become disconnected from the lid and fall to the floor. If you turn the boxes so the wooden handles are sitting on the ply wood you shouldn't have to worry about your tubs falling
This guy kind of sounds like obama
This guy is Barack Obama
Cool thanks
he forgot to mention you should make sure you install these as close to the outer wall as possible. The closer you install to the middle, the higher the chance of the weight pulling the host down causing warping or separation from the floor above(if living space is above the garage)
Seems like a good concept especially if you scale it down for a small house. You could keep your clothes or small bits and pieces on beams like this.
I really like this idea! If I didnt like stocking my crates with crap this would be amazing!
They did the door studs wrong you use a 2 King studs 3" wider than you rough opening the put your header in then you put 2 Jack Studs in under your header they take up that 3" that you allowed for so when you are done you have your rough opening. Also the Bearing walls should always have a Double top plate
I put way too heavy of items in my bins to trust this kind of storage!
I do construction for a living. I work 7 days a week, even handle a LOT of concrete and other heavy things…why am I not jacked like this guy? lol
Brilliant idea. love it..
Great idea. How much weight do these beams hold (approx.)?
Yea.. Uhhh, No.
its really cool how much people are need to make something work
Genius craftsmanship
great idea's! to increase the strength of the rail's and to provide stability put steel "T" brackets at the end of each rail. This would ensure no rail shifting when you unload one side.
using a Milwaukee bit in a craftsman promotional video…
I have a few of these rails in my garage. I used lag bolts instead of screws to increase the weight capacity. Use the quality 3/4 plywood, don't cheap out on this!
Get a show on HGTV I'd watch it every week. Plus it would be awesome publicity for Sears, to get people back it your great stores !
How much weight can be put into the bins before the supports break?
