DIY – homemade gym in a cabinet

DIY – homemade gym in a cabinet

I was recently inspired by Homemade Modern’s home workout equipment builds to build my own Gym equipment and this is the first of several projects I have planned. After changing my eating habit I have lost 30 pounds in the last month and am excited to add a regular workout routine to my weight loss efforts. This Homemade Gym that fits in a cabinet is a good start.

Decker Means Build says:

What? Lifting plywood is not enough? I just built a pullup bar for a gym but I haven't been able to do a pull up for many years! I love those small, square head screws.

Jasper amirante says:

jeez this is the kind of father i wish i could have.. mines a corporate lawyer and has never ever built anything with me

XXCoder says:

Ya know, great idea but I wonder if it is good idea to add thin but dense mat on bottom where it lands in case it was let go?

Timothy Bess says:

Izzy's neighbor doesn't own sleeves, either!

Maks Chiksy says:

Руки не крюки!

William Lutes says:

You are such a tease !!!

Goose says:

Nice haircut!

Aristocob says:

Very cool, Izzy. You know, you are one quartz movement away from having a neat little grandfather clock! I hope one of your additions will be a bolt-on pulley that will allow you to use this for curls. Also, it doesn't look like you're dealing with much friction, but you could always use FastCap FastEdge tape as a linear bearing on your vertical surfaces to keep things running smoothly if friction and wear are ever a problem. SAHBfan says:

Brilliant! Not having room for a home gym is my biggest excuse at the moment, but that certainly solves that problem…

Ivo Kolarik says:

try garage door pulleys

Grigor Simeonov says:

why dont you just biscuit join the 3 panel pieces and putty over the screw holes. Save some cash on a new panel

Vasiliy Ivanishvili says:

exellent idea! thank you!

Andy King says:

Hey Izzy, I noticed your table saw mitre slots are a bit like t slots – they have slight overhangs at the top of the slot on either side. How do you make runners for those when you're making jigs? I have that on my saw and I'm not sure how to create something that will work for me. cheers!

Von Thompson Tinker says:

Oh no! Am I too late?

Reiner Schlag says:

Quinn in the workshop? And helping? No wonder our weather is so messed up lately! When I saw Dave helping you keep the cabinet in place I thought, "Where's Quinn disappeared to? Why do you need to get a neighbour to help with this when you have kids that can assist?" But anway, great build as always.

Blake Haskins says:

So Umm I notice that this video came out on Monday, however Monday is nearly nationally recognized as chest day, but this is a specifically back+ bicep machine… Explain?  Lets be real hear, you probably attach your car to the other end.

David Lightman says:

I was so hoping this would be a guillotine. 🙂

Rag Tie says:

Great idea & build. I like the way you made the tray/box allowing damn near anything that'll fit useful.

Fiaschetti Woodworking says:

Liberty Woodworking says:

Need to add a counter to it that after every 100 pulls on the cable it releases a cold beer Lol. Good stuff Izzy.

Not even slightly interested in exercise cabinet….. I just like watching Izzy work. This guy has an imagination that just won't quit.

Artfully Rogue says:
