I have always liked doing lat pulldowns as part of my workout, so I knew I wanted a lat machine in our new home gym. Yesterday, I decided it was time to throw one together. I used the same basic design that my Dad used in his home gym and I constructed it using mostly scrap wood that I had lying around. The bulk of the wood came from an old twin bed that we had in storage, but I did end up going to the store to buy one final 2×6 to finish it up. It seems plenty strong and works pretty well. I do need to get some new steel cable though, as mine is badly frayed. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching!

V.interesting. Appreciated for sharing knowledge.
Getting pretty professional looking Jeff. Soon you will be able to sell memberships…
almost as good as your dads! I need one of those, I really like the feel of that style of work-out because its not hard on your back at all. most lifting is just horror on my neck and back because of previous injuries. Great work as always Jeff, keep it creative and original and save some cash, why not?
my setup is a lot the same. I used 2 heavy tool box casters I cut groves all the way around with an angle grinder. . 2 inch pipe with a steel plate welded on the bottom for a loading pin.. and a 1 inch easy curl bar as my pull down bar.. also a homemade V shape bar and also a piece of thick rope with a knot tied on each end for tricep extensions.. looks good. people need to see you don't have to spend 5thousand dollars on a home gym. just a little ingenuity 🙂
Well built Bud!! Shouldn't have any problems with that, even the cable noise wasn't bad!! It probably makes it sound like you're working out harder than you really are!!☺
good job and I was going to make a simple pully and cable and hang it from my carport shed roof. It was not going to be as good as your design. For right now I have been pulling my chicken tractor around the yard two of them everyday. LOL
Good for you sir
