Every year since 2008, ASecureLife.com has extensively researched home security and alarm system. In this six minute and 25-second video, we’ll explore our Top 5 Best Home Security Systems for 2017.

OUR REVIEW PROCESS
We rate each security company using over 1000 different data points to give you a look behind the curtain and see how these companies stack up against each other. Our data focuses on things like customer service & reputation, price, equipment, technology, and security performance. This helps us make sure we’re giving each company a fair and equal look.

PROFESSIONAL MONITORING
At ASecureLife we strongly recommend getting a security system with cellular monitoring. It’s more reliable and can’t be compromised by cutting your phone line or cable connection. It’s just safer. With that in mind, for each company in this video, we’ll give you their entry-level price for cellular monitoring. Some companies, like Protect America, will have much lower entry-level prices for other forms of monitoring, but we’ll talk about that when we get there.

OUR #1 RECOMMENDATION: FRONTPOINT
Frontpoint security has been our number one pick for 10 years now, and for good reason. What really keeps Frontpoint on top is their stress-free, straightforward home security experience. You don’t have to deal with pushy sales reps or frustrating customer service calls.
With Frontpoint security you’ll get clear, upfront information, transparent pricing, and top-of-the-line equipment from Alarm.com that includes a variety of crucial security sensors and features that Alarm.com is known for.

OUR #2 RECOMMENDATION: LINK INTERACTIVE
We have a new #2 this year in Link Interactive. Link Interactive rose in our rankings because of their customizable approach to home security. They do away with pre designed packages and instead let you customize equipment to fit your needs.
Like Frontpoint, Link Interactive uses Alarm.com, so you can choose from the most up-to-date technology and equipment, including all the same sensors we mentioned earlier.

OUR #3 RECOMMENDATION: PROTECT AMERICA
At #3, the Protect America security system wins our overall “Best Value” award for 2017 thanks to transparent pricing, a lifetime equipment warranty—which is almost unheard of—and the ability to lock in your rate for life, so you don’t have to wonder if your monthly monitoring price will increase when your contract is up.

OUR #4 RECOMMENDATION: SCOUT
Scout brings a different way of thinking about home security and is our choice for “Best Design.” You have to buy the equipment upfront, but Scout doesn’t make you sign a contract—although you can get a 10% discount if your pay for a year of monitoring upfront—and there are no activation or installation fees.

OUR #5 RECOMMENDATION: SIMPLISAFE
Rounding out the top 5, SimpliSafe’s flexible no-contract approach makes it a favorite for renter’s, DIYer’s, and families on a budget. Like Scout, you have to buy the equipment upfront, but that also means you’re only paying for the equipment you hand-select.

Ann Marie Duquette says:

Do you know anything about AMPSecurity Systems?

Hugh DeLaGarza says:

abode hone security in my humble opinion beats all of these, they are pretty new, but after owning it for four months, it works flawlessly, and is a complete smart home solution with no contracts, and no sales people that will ever call you.

Ken Lind says:

SimpliSafe is only as good as human memory. Most homes have several inhabitants all of whom must think and remember to activate the system when they happen to be the last person leaving the home. This provides a system that is wrought with error… human error. What's worse is that this situation is totally preventable. If SimpliSafe would simpli (<–sic) integrate with IFTTT.com system activation could easily be automated and human error totally avoided. Automation would make a good system great. Why is it SimpliSafe is oppossed to this automation which could be easily accomplished through coordination with IFTTT.com and Life360.com.
