Building my Kitchen Island | 30

Building my Kitchen Island | 30

We hit Episode 30, and boy is it a doozy!

Today, on The Cutting Bored, I’m building my own kitchen island for the home my fiancé and I just moved into. This is above and beyond the most ambition thing I’ve every built, but damn am I happy with it!. Hope you like! Estimated cost was $850 for materials (and a few weeks of labor on and off) v. a $3,000+ ballpark based on research.

Thank you to Purebond for helping support this project! Purebond is a no-added formaldehyde product sourced and manufactured in North America and is the highest quality plywood material I have ever worked with.

Boy o' boy, that's beautiful. We're planning on re-doing the kitchen with butcher block counter tops & building us some much needed upper kitchen cabinets soon along with building a butcher block island here soon so this definitely helps us. Thank you for sharing this great big project

Could you add where you got the drawer slides? I didn't see it in the materials list. Love this build!!!

Colin Hart says:

Hey man, great job! How does that kreg track saw jig work. Was thinking about picking it up as I can’t afford or justify festool. Thanks!

Butcher block has the endgrain facing up.

According to some of the comments to call yourself a diyer, you should’ve built this with a pocket knife and a screw driver. Building up your collection of tools is as common as as card collector getting more cards. Nice job and great build keep adding tools it addicting!!

Alex Reign says:

Your kitchen, your rules, but I'd paint it inside too
