Make your own rustic kitchen island for around $20! Easy enough for beginners, this island will look great in any kitchen.
Dimensions: 60l x 27 3/4w x 35 3/4h
ALL OF OUR LUMBER IS PURCHASED AT MENARDS, A MIDWEST HARDWARE CHAIN. FOR THESE VIDEOS, WE ARE GENERALLY USING STANDARD PINE BOARDS. YOUR PRICES WILL VARY DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU SHOP AND THE TYPE OF WOOD YOU SELECT.
you shouldnt of used pressure treated 4×4 s the preservative will seep thru your stain
I am glad I made this purchase [Check Details Hereโ>โโ โhttps://www.facebook.com/Tedswoodworking-262698340809686/app/208195102528120 ]. It's mind blowing! I can't believe so much excellent designs could be packed in one collection as this. The instructions and blueprints are all amazing. Thank you so much.
there's no way this would cost $20.00 – I've built one myself and the wood alone cost me $35.00 – However, mine turned out real nice and I used 1 1/2" Brad Nails along with 1 1/2" Drywall Screws to secure the legs at the top and bottom. Gave it a light Cherry stain. Turned out real nice! Oh… by the way I used wood from Denmark which is inexpensive and the legs are 2X2 and 36" long. Had the legs cut down to 29" and used the dry wall screws to secure the bottom half of the legs. Used wood filler to cover the Brad nails and Drywall Screws and matched the color of the wood.
Where did you purchase the chairs?
there is so many things structurally wrong with this. on top of that they used pressure treated 4×4's….. i like the videos but if youre goign to try and teach people how to build furniture, maybe do some research and learn how to yourself. you didnt use any wood glue, everything is held together with a couple finish nails and or roofing nails. aesthetically its a nice looking table, structurally speaking…. its a nightmare
I loved your consept, build, but not using 4×4 treared legs, they are a toxic item near food! my hubby works for a store that sells lumber….just my thoughts, but a great project! ๐ ๐ โฎ
Thank you so much for doing this DYI kitchen island I need this I'm a person of disability due to me having cancer twice in my life and I want to try this project I hope that I can get someone to help me I appreciate you uploading this video
why not just stain all the wood first beforehand. so much easier. love the table thanks for the video
any suggestions on how to out a shelf under there? I'm looking to make somwthing very similar but with a shelf.
Buy a Greg unit instead of nailing wood……
Hi can you lead it like is to fit two stools on both sides?
First and foremost, I want to let you know that I love your videos, particularly with the breakdown of what materials are needed. I have made both the headboard and this island. Although this states it is $20 in materials, I paid $60 at my local lumber store. I would highly suggest using screws for the entire project, not nails (especially for the 4×4 legs). I haven't stained it yet as the only 4×4's available to me were "treated", so they will have to dry before I can sand and stain. I love the tutorials and the projects you come up with. Simple and easy to follow for "beginners" working with wood. Obviously professional woodworkers would cringe about nails being used.I would suggest not including a "cost" with your projects because unless you're getting the lumber for free, the prices vary all over the US and outside and will typically cost the average person double (if not more) to make these items. Thanks again!
stupid question but what is the name of the background song? ?
Thank you for Sharing!
Melamine topping would have been marvelous.
Hello guys, I just wanted to say thank you for showing your creativity and making it easy to follow.
