Good afternoon from Melbourne Australia. Firstly, your husband and yourself have done a grreat job, you dont have to be a skilled gardener to create a wonderful garden space. You had the idea or vision and you knew your budget and where you could sort out these materials and best of all you re-cycled. your right if it isnt broken it still has a lot of uses for it. Buying rescue plants are fantastic, they are not dead, they may have been just a little neglected, or they created too many and they would rather sell it rather than just throw it away. I buy a lot of rescue plants too, beacause I have a very green thumb like my father and I can cultivate anything. I love the look of your house too, it's open and the colour is very cheerful with that charming porch. I admire house like yours because we don't really have houses here anymore made from wood cladings, they made them here 100 years ago with Victorian and Edwardian style homes. I love the look and the charm of them and they match the garden you created.

It's so fun when simple inexpensive changes can make a huge difference! There may be cap stones for the retaining wall you can get, but either way looks great!
