Weather resistant doesn't mean weather proof… It certainly doesn't mean submerged into water for a period of time proof…

My old Elementary school had a retaining wall put in incorrectly near the playground, and it collapsed on field-day, which is the one day all the kids playing near that wall.

From my understanding no one was hurt, but it's still scary.

Totally informative and useful, thank you very much for your video. However, if I DO need to build terraced 36° to 38°, incline walls on a 1400m/4600ft in length area, right up on the incline, wouldn't your advice still stand, for each consecutive tarrace wall?

You seem to be confusing weather resistant and water proof.Regarding the walls, just explain that the wall needs to hold the earth back but it MUST let water pass through. Hence the importance of drainage gravels and their void space.

Another HUGE mistake is building a retaining wall with wood planks that isn't weather proofed…Had to fix that after I bought my house. Absolute nightmare!
