Plasti dip is good for experimenting with temporary different looks before making a permanent decision with powder coat. The plasti actually lasted 3 Minnesota winter's on my wrx rims and still looked relatively good.
What about spray chrome or painted chrome?

Any performance upgrade has a trade off. Nothing's free. As far as the sprocket that messed up your trans. You had to of installed it wrong. That's the only way to destroy a shaft.

Use bed liner
slide pegs screwed direktly into the engine head …. goes what i paid for after the crash 😉

Unless you are racing on a track, pass on the sliders. Like you said, if you hit a hole or something while the bike is sliding, it will just lawn dart it rather than skidding to a stop.
Is it just me or does it sound like most of these things you're complaining about, you aren't very well educated on and they just didn't suit your situation? Almost all of those are great things to have/do to a bike if you're using the bike for the intended purposes of the mods.
