A DIY project that can save money in covering your deck or porch with a sunshade. Enjoy your deck without being exposed directly to the sun rays. Easy to install only a few parts needed that can be purchased from a local hardware or big box store or through an online website. Basic tools such as electric drill, screw driver, pliers, hammer and hack saw are needed. There is no structural integrity to carry ice or snow loading. The sun tarp is easily removed for the winter and reinstalled in the spring using bungee cord or rope. Only the PVC, plumbing pipe, valance and awning fittings remains. Very min. wind loading with using a sun tarp rather than a solid tarp.
I made it, learned on inplix website. great solutions I think.
Sweet, was looking for some good ideas. Learned a lot thanks.
thanks for the reply robert, yes you are right, i agree that would be the better way for my situation. Ok, a few more questions, the board that i will be attaching to on the side of the house where the gutter would normally go is only about 1/2" thick as well as the boards on the fence. Most of the eye screws i see are very long, do you know which would be good for only that depth? i'm planning on 4 of those screws on each side of the tarp, wall side and fence side. I was going to use the screw hook type however instead of the eye screws because I still need to be able to quickly remove the tarp as needed for this situation. it will also allow me to make the tarp fit flush up against the house on the wall and fence sides so that there are no leaks. the bungee cords would be too long and leave a gap.
I have a question that I think you might be able to help me out with, I would like to do this exact same thing, however instead of using the metal posts you used, how could i attach the other end of the tarp with eyeloops to say a wooden fence? would it go over the fence to the other side facing out and just nail through the eyeloops or would it better to use the camel back hinges there too flush to the inside of the planks?
great job man,..this is what im gonna do.
This is absolutely fantastic. You are very talented.
