Part 1 in a short series about building a workshop shed using some salvaged and new materials.
This video covers the ground works, the salvaged wood, a SketchUp model of the workshop, building a retaining block wall, making the frame, installing the windows, and starting to assemble.
This was my biggest ever project, and I donโt know if Iโll ever do anything bigger than this (unless I build myself a house some day!)

Nice job mate and well done its good to see some one having a go office worker or not there are plenty of trades people out there who couldn't do any better.
Just as a little tip it might have been an idea to lay your blocks on a bed of concrete in your slit trench as opposed to back filling and laying just on the soil it may move when it rains and gets very wet, just an observation pal not a dig at your attempt. How much do recon it has cost you

I think you might have got the bracing the wrong way round on your mini tool/bike shed's doors. Think it's supposed to go from the top of the unhinged side to the bottom of the hinged side. Probably so light it doesn't matter but thought I'd mention it in case you got some sagging.

I like the use of reclaimed materials… but if you were going for cost effectiveness why not use nails instead of bolts? did you already have them lying around

Good job, but man was all this overkill. Entire houses are built with butt joints and nails and here you are half lapping everything and using bolts! But hey, better over done than under done.
Could you tell us about the foundations and how you decided how to do them There seem to be so many options.

Hi dude. I really like your videos and am about to embark on building my own workshop. I saw this website http://www.sheds.co.uk/planning-permission/
It seems to say that no shed should be within 1 metre of a boundary which your shed clearly is (presumably due to fire regs?) I am no respecter of 'authority' so do I just give them the finger and get on with it like you did?
