How to Build A Shed – Part 1 – The Shed Foundation

Chris from http://www.icreatables.com/sheds/shed-plans.html teaches you how to build a storage shed foundation. This video shows you how to install the wood rails that a storage shed floor will rest on. This is one of the least expensive ways to build a strong and durable support for your shed. It keeps the wood floor joists away from the dirt and moisture which can cause your shed floor framing to deteriorate.

Steve Pro says:

this seems like such a pain in the ass. could i just sink some 4×4 posts with concrete, then cut down the posts with a circular saw to level?

Wayne Payne98 says:

How much did the project cost you?

Matthew Double says:

Jaimelev0329 says:

cabras51 says:

I just want to thank you for the videos how to build a shade!! I finished my 10×10 . With the very, very, great videos step by step how to build the shade. Thanks again.

Kevin Woods says:

Yes! I was searching for a project such as this! It'll definitely be a HUGE help while I continue to look at Woody Hyezmar's plans which I found on his website.

MR H 91 says:

Why add the horrible background music?

Jake Determan says:

Well done video!

Apache NeverAlone says:

I learned these parts in the oil field. Not necessarily building sheds but doing concrete work mostly. Learned a lot in North Dakota

Jason Ice says:

What he accomplished in 3 minutes of video has so far taken me approx 10 solid hours of work. There's probably a variety of reasons but I mostly blame the completely unlevel ground I'm building on and my own rookie mistakes. I live in FL and did use gravel in mine (required by code here). Mine is 16×10 so it is a beast.

Natalie Ewen says:

I bet that anybody who used to try making his or her project following diy directions, at least one time, experienced the frustrating time when the result always was much worse than expected.

Jerry Coleman says:

What is the material of the rails? Is it PT wood, PVC, or something else?

Sangui says:

Need stone for drainage.

Charles Douglas Contreras says:

hey thanks a lot for share us the building process. some new builder guys life like me really appreciate it. could be great if you guys put the material list too .

Nick Smith says:

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for.

GeauxCoastal says:

What size is this shed in this series?

Jim the Hermit says:

Can I use this technique for a 16×16 shed/workshop? And there really is no gravel?

Daniel Romero says:

I'm building an 8'x8' shed. Can I just lay my floor framing on level gravel, or is the rail foundation necessary? If the rails are necessary, can I lay them on gravel instead of digging out rail beds. The ground on my property is so hard and rocky it is difficult to dig.

Antônio says:

There termites in your country?
Probably not. I would concrete foundation.

yangjimi22 says:

What kind of lumber can be touching dirt?

Fernando R. Garza says:

Do you have a final material list?

jedimaster8691 says:

The earth/dirt can and will move, causing this foundation to move. Also, you cut the pre treated lumber and didn't seal the ends. This is far from pro work. Where did you learn these techniques? So I can avoid working with those companies….
