WHO WE ARE
In 2015 we quit our lives in the city to buy bare land in the country and build a timber frame home from scratch with our bare hands, debt-free, with no prior experience. It’s been a wild ride of ups, downs, highs, lows, rain and rainbows, but we haven’t lost sight of our goals and have gotten further in three years than we thought we’d get in ten. Join us as we build our house, develop our rural property, practice traditional skills such as gardening and food preservation and go to even greater heights (literally) of exploring the world through aviation as a new private pilot!

Chris Stark says:

There should be knock outs predrilled in the joist. Typical anyways. Take hammer and knock them out. But if you don’t have that. Put drop ceiling in

Bill Cooley says:

I have turned a 2 gang box on it's side, installed 2 stacked switches that do operate up and down

JC B says:

You can run 14/3 or 12/3 Romex wire between the man door and garage door. Both circuits share the white wire. Then the Black would be circuit A and Red circuit B. That'll cut down on the number of wires ran.

Robert Kording jr says:

Its easier to do the plumbing and HVAC installed first. You can fish wires through and into any place.

Road Dog says:

As an Electrician myself, I applaud the knowledge you have gained during this housebuild. Now here's a thought: You could consider a 150amp sub panel upstairs fed from your main panel. This would eliminate the number of holes and wiring you would have to run down to your main panel. It would also free up needed main distribution panel breaker space…..just a thought

haywardsteve says:

Why don't you have a sub fuseboard upstairs to power the house living area

COOKIE MONSTER says:

I like the way you make decisions. Apple or Banana. nice

Nikyjim Gaming says:

For the winter time you should install a ceiling fan up and down stairs. Would help with the heat

Aleksandar Jankovic says:

better incorporate ice reflectors and the entire yard will be illuminated

g havila1 says:

Use a surface mount box under the garage door switches for the lighting switches.

MICHAEL PARKIN says:

Jessy the hack master of electrical; to stubborn to get the right ICF boxes

Paul Hill says:

I would install all of the wiring on the inside, then batons and dry wall on top, if inside the sip is there not an overheating risk? At best cable size would have to be much bigger?

Kelly Mount says:

Yay! They mentioned the baby. So happy for your growing family.

Ronn Chase says:

Been missing my PLFL fix. Always interesting J-man

glenn Sankey says:

keep it up from glenn in the uk

s says:

I would run some power blocking(or scissor) across that floor, it helps get rid of the bounce.

Bryan Kilbourne says:

Just to let you know winter is on its way.. We in Alaska got our first freeze today. anyway you can keep the warmth today. stay warm. and a great day. temp this morning was 35 deg.

Ariliving says:
